Telepsychiatry is another modality of telemedicine, where all meetings are conducted via your computer, tablet, or smartphone. Telemedicine offers several unique advantages over face-to-face meetings. The first and most obvious advantage is convenience. There is no travel time and you can be seen in the privacy and comfort of your own home
During the initial psychiatric evaluation with Tonia, you will be meeting for approximately 60 to 75 minutes. The first part of your evaluation will be spent discussing the history of your presenting problem, your psychiatric history, medical history, and family history. The second part will focus on your social history. In the end, a detailed explanation of the assessment and diagnostic impression will be presented, along with treatment options.
After your initial evaluation, regular follow-up appointments will be scheduled every 1-3 months as needed by your doctor. Your progress will be evaluated, any side effects addressed, and all treatment regimens will be monitored to ensure the best possible outcomes toward your treatment goals.
Tonia A. Isotalo, DNP, PMHNP-BC is a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who is board certified in Arizona to treat both adults and children (Ages 5 & Up) for a wide range of psychological disorders. Tonia graduated from the University of Arizona with a doctorates in nursing with an emphasis as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She completed her residency in both in-patient and out-patient psychiatry with an emphasis in children and adolescent psychiatry.
